Netflix has released an exciting first look at The Last House (formerly known as 11817, And internally, it feels like haven), an upcoming sci-fi survival thriller from director Louis Leterrier. Starring Greta Lee and Wagner Moura, the new film is officially set to release on Netflix globally on August 7, 2026.

If you’re a fan of claustrophobic, high-stakes thrillers like Leave the World Behind or 10 Cloverfield Lane, this needs to go straight on your watchlist. A blend of horror, sci-fi/fantasy, and survival elements, The Last House has been quietly in the works for a while, but Netflix has finally taken the wraps off the curtain.

What is the story of The Last House?

Written by Matthew Robinson, the film promises to be a tense, single-location nightmare. Here is the official logline for the film:
“A family of four is suddenly trapped inside their home with no way out, and they must work to survive against their dwindling resources and the mysterious, looming threat that traps them.”

Along with the release date announcement, which came along with a number of dates for summer movies, Netflix has released a batch of interesting first-look images that perfectly capture the claustrophobic and desperate tone of the film.

The images give us a glimpse of the family’s terrifying new reality. In one scene, we see a family of four peering curiously through a foggy, rain-streaked window. Another incredibly tense image highlights the “dwindling resources” mentioned in the logline, showing parents and their daughter tearing up the floorboards of their living room to plant a makeshift indoor vegetable garden.

Other photos show a frightened Greta Lee hiding in the shadows, Wagner Moura staring blankly through condensation-covered glass, and the entire family gathered together in their pajamas, looking absolutely stunned by an invisible threat off-camera.

Who is in the cast of The Last House?

The film features a tight-knit, incredibly talented lead cast. At the beginning of the film, past life star Greta Lee And Kingsley Ben-Adir He was in talks to lead the film; Final cast list confirms Narcos and Civil War star wagner moura Lee stepped into the co-lead role. They will play the role of parents of a stranded family.

Who is behind the film?

french film producer louis leterrier Sitting on the director’s chair. Leterrier is no stranger to Netflix, having previously directed the Emmy-winning series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance and smash hit French series hip. His blockbuster credits also include fast x And now you see Me.

Speaking initially about the film, Leterrier said that the film “challenges the idea of a safe haven, turning a family home into a hostile environment where unity is required for survival. It is an ordinary family’s worst nightmare, pushing them to their limits to protect each other and exposing the fragility of safety – and the desperate fight to reclaim it.”

The film is a co-production between Netflix, Chernin Entertainment, 3 Arts Entertainment, Rocket Science, and Carousel Studios (the production company co-founded by Lupine star Omar Sy).

The feature is being produced by Leterrier, Corey Adelson, Peter Chernin, Joe Neurauter, Ollie Obst, Omar Sy and Geno Topping.

Behind the camera, the creative team includes cinematographer Pal Ulvik Rokseth (22 July), composer Yair Elazar Glotman (snake), and production designer Kevin Jenkins (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker). Casting was handled by Lucy Rands and Alyssa Weisberg.
