Get ready to go back to the lake! After months of whispers and internet speculation, Netflix has officially confirmed the third installment of the hit comedy franchise Adult In development for streamers.
The news was officially unveiled today during the 2026 Netflix Upfronts presentation in New York City, marking another major extension of Adam Sandler’s long-standing and incredibly lucrative overall deal with Netflix.
While the first two films (Adult in 2010 and Adult 2 (in 2013) were distributed by Sony Pictures and were massively successful at the box-office, Netflix, not for the first time, is bringing one of Sandler’s biggest IPs from another studio to continue the story of Lenny Feder and his childhood friends.

Who is behind Grown Ups 3 on Netflix?
According to the official Upfronts press release, the film will reunite Sandler with a familiar face behind the camera. kyle newcheckwho previously directed Sandler and Jennifer Aniston in the hit Netflix comedy murder mystery, Also last year’s hit film happy gilmore 2Officially attached to direct the third installment.
Who is writing the script? Adam Sandler With his longtime collaborator and veteran Happy Madison Tim Herlihy (the wedding Singer, happy Gilmore, hubby halloween).
The feature is being produced by Adam Sandler, Jackie Sandler, Jack Giarraputo and Tim Herlihy. Kevin Grady and Judit Maul will serve as executive producers.
There’s no word on whether all five members of the main cast, or any other group from the first two films, will be returning.
What is the plot of Grown Ups 3 and when is it filmed?
If you’ve been following the Happy Madison rumors for the past six months, today’s announcement probably isn’t a complete shock. There are many rumors floating around that one third Adult Preparations for the excursion were being made quietly behind the scenes, with filming at one point reported to take place early in the year.
While Netflix kept official plot details under wraps during today’s presentation, the most recent rumors circulating the project suggest a massive change in scenery for the crew. According to those rumors, the tentative logline for the film is:
“Feder returns after Lenny inherits his childhood summer camp.”
If the rumors are true, we can expect the usual suspects – possibly bringing back people like Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and Salma Hayek Pinault – who will be trading their hometown antics for some summer camp anarchy.
Furthermore, recent production rumbles reveal that adult 3 Production is expected to begin sometime in the summer of 2026. What’s particularly interesting is that filming is reportedly going to take place in multiple countries, which will be a massive jump compared to the New England-bound setting of the first two films. Can an early childhood summer camp be organized abroad? Or is the gang taking an international vacation before the camp hijinks begin? We will have to wait and see.
